Kikkawa Jozo
The Kikkawa Brewery is a true gem among Japan's sake breweries! Founded in 1912 in Isehara, it is relatively young yet has already earned an excellent reputation. It draws its water from three of its own wells, fed by the rainy mountains of the surrounding Godo region in Kanagawa Prefecture. The high rainfall in this area inspired the brewery to name its sake "Afuri," which means "rainy" in Japanese.
A few years ago, the brewery was on the verge of bankruptcy, but it was rescued by the Shimada Group, a renowned real estate company. The original owner, who was from the same city, refused to allow the long-established brewery to go under. Thanks to the acquisition, the Kikkawa Brewery has revolutionized its production methods and has since focused on quality over quantity. The result is a unique and unconventional style that makes the sake from this brewery truly special.
If you're looking for high-quality sake, then the Kikkawa Brewery is the perfect choice for you! Try the unique Afuri sake and be enchanted by its impressive craftsmanship and exquisite taste.
